About the Authors

First and foremost, authors Richard H. Rossiter and Sue MacDonald are NOT surgeons!

But they are professionals who are convinced that otherwise healthy people deserve pain-relief approaches that are not medically invasive, do not put people at risk for complications or further pain problems, and are based on the belief that the body has an innate and natural ability to heal itself.

About Richard H. Rossiter
Richard is a former pain sufferer who began looking for non-drug, non-surgical approaches for pain relief in the 1970s when chronic shoulder pain nearly shortened his career as a commercial helicopter pilot in Alaska.

He began investigatng and found success with various forms of bodywork, including Rolfing and other massage therapies. In 1983 he became a connective tissue expert, certified by the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado, and in 1989 he founded Rossiter & Associates Inc., a training/consulting firm that specializes in work-site, employee-driven stretching programs to relieve the pain and costs of work-related, repetitive-stress injuries.

A U.S. Army and Vietnam War veteran, Rossiter also created the 100-plus two-person stretching techniques known as The Rossiter SystemT and featured in Surgery Sucks!!!

About Sue MacDonald
Sue MacDonald is a veteran, award-winning writer who spent 22 years as a newspaper columnist/health writer before joining a Cincinnati technology firm as a communications/marketing specialist.

She first met Richard in 1997 while researching an article on carpal tunnel syndrome, and during their first interview, he "fixed" her chronically stiff, sore right shoulder in about 20 minutes. Four years later, they were married. Surgery Sucks!!! is their second book together.
